Danang Police said on October 14 that they had launched a search that morning and found the tourists in the Hoa Ninh Village area.
At about 9 am on October 14, local police received a report that Austin Drake Vasquez, 31, an American, and Matty Geppert, 36, a German, had been lost in the forest around Da Hang Stream since the evening of October 13.
Police quickly mobilised personnel to search the mountainous terrain.
After about three hours of searching, rescuers found the two tourists at Hang Gio, in the Da Hang Stream area, at noon. Both were brought safely down the mountain.
Initial checks found that their health was stable and they had sustained only minor scratches.
Grateful for the prompt assistance, Vasquez wrote a letter of thanks to Danang Police and the other teams involved in the rescue shortly after being brought to safety.
