Under the ministry's latest notice, the holiday will run from Thursday, February 4, to Wednesday, February 10, covering the final two days of the lunar year and the first five days of the new year.
The break comprises five statutory Tet holidays and two compensatory days off because public holidays overlap with the weekend.
Government agencies and public institutions have been instructed to arrange staff on duty to maintain essential services and respond to emergencies during the holiday.
Agencies without fixed Saturday and Sunday breaks will arrange their schedules in accordance with their operational requirements and labour regulations.
For private-sector employees, employers may choose one of three five-day holiday arrangements: one day before Tet and four days after, two days before and three days after, or three days before and two days after.
Businesses must comply with statutory holiday entitlements and notify employees of their schedules at least 30 days in advance.
The ministry encouraged private employers to adopt the same seven-day break as the public sector where possible.
