Hanoi installs lifebuoys on Nhat Tan Bridge for emergency rescues

Fifty lifebuoys have been installed along Hanoi's Nhat Tan Bridge to help rescue people in distress in the Red River and reduce the risk of drowning.

The initiative, launched by the Youth Union of Phu Thuong Ward Police, aims to provide readily accessible rescue equipment for emergencies on the river.

As of October 8, 50 lifebuoys had been installed at various points along both sides of the bridge, including the route towards Dong Anh and the opposite direction.

The lifebuoys are securely attached to the bases of street lighting poles in clearly visible locations, without obstructing traffic or affecting the bridge's appearance.

Some also carry messages of encouragement aimed at people experiencing emotional distress.

The equipment allows passers-by to quickly throw a lifebuoy towards someone in danger in the river, providing assistance from the bridge without entering the water themselves.

Nhat Tan Bridge is one of Hanoi's major crossings over the Red River and carries heavy traffic. The installation is intended to improve emergency response and prevent drowning incidents.

Following the installation on Nhat Tan Bridge, the Phu Thuong Ward Police Youth Union plans to install another 50 lifebuoys on Thang Long Bridge.
