Ca Mau destroys 170 fake Gucci and Chanel clothing items

Authorities in Ca Mau Province have destroyed 170 items of clothing bearing counterfeit versions of well-known brands, including Gucci and Chanel, seized from a local business.

Ca Mau police and other authorities have destroyed 170 items of clothing found to bear counterfeit trademarks, police said on October 8.

The items were seized during an inspection of a business in Ly Van Lam Ward run by a 42-year-old woman. Authorities found 170 pairs of trousers, shirts and other clothing carrying counterfeit versions of brands including Gucci, Chanel and DG.

The business had no invoices or documents proving the origin of the goods. The seized items were valued at VND 61 million (USD 2,350).

Authorities fined the business VND 51 million (USD 1,960) for selling goods of unclear origin and trading products bearing counterfeit trademarks.

In addition to the fine, the business was ordered to destroy all 170 counterfeit clothing items.
