Authorities carried out temporary repairs on the morning of October 8, allowing vehicles to pass slowly through affected areas.
The downpour, which lasted from the evening of October 7 into early October 8, sent water and red sand spilling across a 100-metre stretch of Nguyen Thong Street in Phu Thuy Ward, blocking traffic.

On Road 1.5, which connects Nguyen Thong Street with coastal resorts, a landslide damaged half the roadway along a 30-metre section. The roadside slope collapsed, leaving a dangerous overhang beneath the remaining road surface.
Crews were deployed overnight with machinery to clear sand and temporarily restore traffic. Personnel were also stationed at flooded sections to assist residents and prevent accidents.
Warning barriers were installed along the damaged section of Road 1.5, with motorists directed to safer alternative routes.
According to Nguyen Huu Thong, secretary of the Phu Thuy Ward Party Committee, repeated heavy rain had caused sand to spill onto roads and damaged routes serving local tourist areas.
He said repair work on Road 1.5 had already been under way when the latest downpour caused further damage.
Local authorities have deployed personnel to warn residents and divert traffic, while relevant agencies are assessing longer-term measures to address the problem.
Repair and clearance work was continuing on the morning of October 8.
