On October 7, a delegation from the Danang Military Command inspected disaster prevention and search-and-rescue preparations in Hoi An Dong Ward and Duy Nghia Commune.
Colonel Nguyen The Vinh, commander of the Danang Military Command, asked local authorities to station personnel and equipment in vulnerable areas, particularly locations prone to deep flooding or isolation, to provide timely assistance to residents.
Response plans must identify high-risk areas, assign specific tasks to each force and set out equipment and access routes to ensure rapid deployment in emergencies.
Local authorities were also instructed to review households in dangerous areas and prepare evacuations before floodwaters rise.
Depending on local conditions, residents could be accommodated with households in safer areas or moved to designated shelters. Food, water, medicines and other essentials should be prepared for prolonged flooding.
Hoi An Dong Ward was asked to prepare a response plan for prolonged flooding, while Duy Nghia Commune was told to develop heavy rain and storm scenarios, identify high-risk areas and plan evacuations.
Military agencies were also told to help local authorities prepare plans tailored to conditions in each area, with particular attention to landslides and the risk of structural collapse.
Residents should be advised to secure their homes and take precautions to minimise damage, authorities said.
The Danang Military Command has prepared reserve personnel and equipment and is coordinating with relevant units to reinforce affected areas when needed. Communication and command systems will remain operational to ensure a rapid response.
