Heavy localised rain has caused strong water flows at several locations in Tan Hiep Commune on Cu Lao Cham Island, posing risks to residents, local authorities said on October 7.

Officials identified seven areas with fast-flowing water in Bai Lang and Bai Huong villages.
The rushing water has made travel difficult. No landslides had been reported at the time of inspection, but the strong currents posed safety risks, particularly to pedestrians, motorbike riders and other road users.
Authorities have put up warning signs, erected barriers and deployed personnel to prevent people from entering dangerous areas.
Tan Hiep Commune authorities said they would closely monitor the situation, inspect vulnerable locations and prepare response measures as severe weather is expected to continue.
