Tran Nam Hung, deputy chairman of the Danang People's Committee, has inspected the second phase of the An Thuong tourist district project in Ngu Hanh Son Ward, calling for faster implementation so the project can open soon.
The second phase has a proposed investment of more than VND 100 billion (about USD 3.85 million) to further develop the An Thuong tourism area, add new amenities and attractions, and increase its appeal as a night-time destination.
Under the initial plan, the project would include a central square, sports facilities, a stage, a musical fountain, green spaces, lighting and other public amenities.

After inspecting the site, Hung asked the project team to revise the plan to prioritise facilities that residents and tourists could use regularly. He also called for a public car park to be combined with a park.
An old, deteriorating apartment block in the An Thuong area is affecting the appearance of the neighbourhood. City authorities said options should be considered for demolishing the building to make room for an expanded square and park.

The city leadership asked the project developer and consultants to submit a revised design proposal in November.
According to the developer, the second phase of the An Thuong tourist area project is being implemented from 2024 to 2027 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
