The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Centre forecast showers and thunderstorms in parts of Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces and cities on October 6, with rainfall increasing from the afternoon into the evening.

Temperatures are expected to range from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius at night and 31 to 34 degrees Celsius during the day.
Widespread thunderstorms affected southern Vietnam on the afternoon of October 5. In Ho Chi Minh City, moderate to heavy rain was recorded in several areas between 1 pm on October 4 and 1 pm on October 5. Rainfall reached 71.8mm at Pham Van Coi station, 64mm in Cu Chi, 58.6mm in Thu Dau Mot and 49mm in Binh Ba.
The weather agency forecast moderate to heavy rain in Ho Chi Minh City from 7 pm on October 5 to 7 pm on October 7, with some areas likely to experience very heavy rain. Total rainfall is expected to reach 60-140mm, with some areas receiving more than 150mm.
The spell of heavy rain is forecast to continue until October 10. Sudden downpours could cause flooding during rush hour.
Residents have been advised to prepare for flooding in low-lying areas and remain alert to thunderstorms, whirlwinds, lightning and strong gusts.
