Hanoi was honoured with two awards at the 2026 World Travel Awards for Asia, Oceania and the Indian Ocean, held in the Maldives, alongside leading destinations and tourism organisations across the region.
The capital won Asia's Leading City Break Destination and Vietnam's Leading City Cultural Destination.

It was the fifth consecutive year, from 2022 to 2026, that Hanoi won Asia's Leading City Break Destination. The capital also secured Vietnam's Leading City Cultural Destination for the second time, following its first win in 2024.
Hanoi has remained a popular destination as international tourism to Vietnam continues to grow.
In the first nine months of the year, Hanoi welcomed more than 27.5 million tourist arrivals, up 6.2 per cent year on year. International arrivals reached 6.67 million, up 22 per cent, while domestic visitors totalled 20.87 million, an 8.2 per cent increase.

In 2025, the capital welcomed more than 33 million visitors, including over 7.82 million international tourists, up 22.76 per cent from the previous year.
Hanoi has set a target of welcoming 35.8 million visitors this year, including about 8.6 million international arrivals.
