Hanoi rolls out more electric buses

Hanoi has put 28 new electric buses into service on two routes, replacing diesel vehicles as part of the city's transition towards greener public transport.

Cau Buou Bus Enterprise, a subsidiary of Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco), began operating the electric buses on routes 22A, linking Gia Lam Bus Station with Kien Hung Urban Area, and 22B, between Giap Bat Bus Station and Do Nghia, on October 5.

The new VinFast Green Buses, manufactured in 2026, each have a capacity of 60 passengers. They feature Hanoibus branding alongside motifs of doves and Khue Van Cac, a landmark associated with Hanoi.

The low-floor buses are equipped with accessibility features for passengers with disabilities and other modern amenities aimed at improving passenger convenience.

Transerco also adjusted the operating schedule for Route 22B from October 5. Services run from 5 am to 9 pm, with intervals of 23-35 minutes.

Transerco said the introduction of electric buses on routes 22A and 22B was part of its green transition programme through the end of 2026, when it aims to have more than 51 per cent of its fleet using greener vehicles.
