Thai Nguyen to host International Tea Festival

Thai Nguyen Province will host the 2026 International Tea Festival from October 30 to November 7, showcasing its renowned tea culture while promoting tourism, trade and international cooperation.

The festival, themed 'Thai Nguyen-The Finest Tea', will honour tea growers, artisans, cooperatives and businesses while promoting the Thai Nguyen Tea brand and the province to international visitors.

Artists, celebrities and content creators will join promotional activities at well-known tea-growing areas including Tan Cuong, La Bang, Vo Tranh, Dong Hy and Dong Phuc.

The event will coincide with the 195th anniversary of the province’s establishment.

The opening ceremony will take place at Vo Nguyen Giap Square on October 30, featuring cultural performances, a tea culture parade and a 10-minute high-altitude fireworks display.

The event will also announce the recognition of traditional knowledge of Thai Nguyen tea cultivation and processing as national intangible cultural heritage.

An international tea forum themed 'From Tea Heritage to the Global Tea Economy' will discuss sustainable growing areas, technology, branding, market expansion and ways to increase the value of Vietnam’s tea industry.

The Vietnam Master Tea competition will showcase tea-making skills and promote exchanges between Vietnam and countries with long-established tea traditions.

Visitors, journalists, experts and international partners will also be able to visit major tea-growing areas to learn about cultivation, processing techniques and the lives and culture of local tea growers.

Exhibition and tea-tasting spaces, cultural and culinary activities, and trade, investment and tourism promotion programmes will provide opportunities for businesses, cooperatives and international partners to explore cooperation.

The festival comprises 12 major activities covering culture, sports, tourism, trade and agriculture. It will close at Vo Nguyen Giap Square on November 7.
