The Traffic Police Department said on October 1 that it had fined a foreign driver for speeding on the Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet Expressway.
At about 3 pm on September 30, authorities detected a car with licence plate 51M-348.xx travelling at 133km/h on the expressway in Lam Dong Province. The road has a maximum speed limit of 90km/h.
Police stopped the vehicle at the intersection with National Highway 28. The driver was identified as a 54-year-old Chinese man currently living in Ho Chi Minh City.

Under current regulations, he was fined VND 13 million (USD 500) and had six points deducted from his driving licence.
In another case on the same expressway on September 28, traffic police detected a 44-year-old man from Lam Dong Province driving a car with licence plate 92C-106.xx at 100km/h.
The driver also did not have a driving licence.
For the two speed-related violations, he was fined a total of VND 24 million (USD 924), while the vehicle was impounded for seven days in accordance with regulations.
