The Ho Chi Minh City Command said on September 30 that search teams had recovered 10 more sets of remains at Le Thi Rieng Park during the day, taking the total number found at the site to 682.
The teams removed more than 500 cubic metres of soil and continued expanding the search area. To keep the operation on schedule, the command deployed three excavators, dump trucks and two other trucks to assist with excavation and the transportation of soil.

Of the 682 sets of remains recovered so far, 649 were found individually, while 33 were discovered at eight mass grave sites.
The Ho Chi Minh City Command plans to continue expanding the search for the remains of fallen soldiers at Le Thi Rieng Park. Preparations are also under way for a memorial ceremony to honour the fallen.

The search and recovery operation at Le Thi Rieng Park was launched on July 6 following the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra at a workshop verifying information about a mass grave of martyrs in the area.
Earlier, based on witness accounts and historical records, the Ho Chi Minh City Command estimated that hundreds of martyrs killed during the 1968 Tet Offensive and Uprising may have been buried in Do Thanh - Chi Hoa cemetery, now Le Thi Rieng Park.
