Several sections of the pass on National Highway 20, through Bao Loc Ward 3 and Da Huoai 2 Commune, have deteriorated in recent days.
In some areas, the road surface has peeled away for dozens of metres. During rain, water fills the potholes, making them particularly hazardous for motorcyclists, while trucks and cars have to slow down to avoid damage and ensure safety.
Traffic police have stepped up patrols and traffic control and asked road authorities to urgently repair the damaged sections.
Construction and maintenance firm 676 JSC said it had mobilised workers and materials for repairs, but persistent rain had hampered the work.
Taking advantage of dry weather on September 29, crews focused on repairing the most severely damaged sections.
Bao Loc Pass is about 10 km long and forms part of a major route linking HCM City and southeastern Vietnam with Dalat in Lam Dong Province. It carries heavy traffic each day.
