Vietnam drop in FIFA rankings after defeat by Thailand

Vietnam have dropped one place in the FIFA rankings after losing 2-0 to Thailand, who climbed four places following the match on September 29.

Thailand earned 4.87 ranking points from the victory, taking their total to 1,258.84 points and moving from 94th to 90th in the world.

Vietnam, meanwhile, lost 4.87 points after the defeat at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, Indonesia.

Vietnam now have 1,235.82 points and are ranked 100th in the world, one place lower than before the match.

Thailand remain the highest-ranked team in Southeast Asia, with Vietnam second. Indonesia are third in the region and 118th in the world.

Malaysia and the Philippines rank fourth and fifth in Southeast Asia, at 136th and 137th in the world respectively. Singapore are sixth in the region and 146th globally.

Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore are also the six teams competing in Division 1 of this year's FIFA ASEAN Cup.

Thailand have already secured their place in the final, while Vietnam and the Philippines are certain to miss out on the title.

Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore are competing for the other final berth in Group A of Division 1.
