Vietnam recovers 87 remains of soldiers in Cambodia

Vietnamese search teams have recovered the remains of 87 soldiers who lost their lives in Cambodia after nearly one month of operations.

According to authorities, the remains were found in Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Pailin and Siem Reap provinces.

Vietnamese search teams are continuing to coordinate with Cambodian authorities, relevant agencies and local residents to expand search efforts and locate additional burial sites.

During the 2026-2027 dry season, the teams aim to continue fulfilling their mission of searching for and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia.

The operation is being carried out as Vietnam intensifies implementation of the 500-Day Campaign ahead of the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27, 2027.
