During September, many residents and tourists have travelled to Hon En in Bac Nha Trang Ward to experience the early-morning scenery. The mountain offers a distinctive perspective of the coastal city, particularly when layers of clouds drift across the landscape at dawn.
Located about 15km west of central Nha Trang, the viewpoint known as Phong Van Dinh can be reached by road, although more than 2km of the route consists of steep inclines. Experienced visitors recommend using manual motorcycles rather than scooters to ensure safer travel on the mountain roads.
According to regular visitors, the best time to arrive is between 4 am and 6 am, when cloud formations are most likely to appear and sunrise colours begin to illuminate the horizon.
From the summit, visitors can see white clouds floating beneath the mountain slopes, while residential areas in Dien Dien Commune and the Cai River winding through the plains create a striking backdrop.
Many people bring tea sets, hot water and other refreshments to the mountaintop, enjoying a cup of tea while watching the sunrise and the sea of clouds below.
Tran Hoang, a resident of Bac Nha Trang Ward, said he frequently visits Hon En during September and October.
“The air here is fresh and pleasant. Drinking tea while enjoying the peaceful scenery makes life feel calmer and more relaxing. It feels like recharging my energy before starting a new day,” he said.
The mountain also provides sweeping views of Nha Trang’s urban skyline, with rows of high-rise buildings visible from above.
Visitors often stop to take photographs and capture memories of the sunrise. Nguyen Dieu Tuong Vi, 29, from Gia Lai Province, said it was her first visit to Hon En with friends.
“The atmosphere is very fresh and the scenery is beautiful. Nha Trang has both mountains and the sea, creating a truly impressive landscape,” she said.
Experienced hikers advise visitors to check weather conditions before departure, wear footwear with good grip and bring flashlights and drinking water. Travelling in groups is also recommended, while climbing should be avoided during rain, slippery conditions or periods of dense fog.
