Russia remains a key tourism market for Phu Quoc, with direct flights offering easier access for travellers seeking longer winter holidays in the island's warm climate.
Tourism businesses have been working with hotels, transport operators, tour guides and entertainment venues to prepare for the influx of visitors.
Anex Vietnam Operations Director Ozkan Liman said the company had provided destination services in Phu Quoc for the Russian market for several years, with demand and visitor expectations continuing to grow.
Russian tourists can currently stay in Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days.
Anex Vietnam expects to bring about 15,000 Russian visitors to Phu Quoc each month and plans to raise the target next year.
Phu Quoc welcomed more than 1.92 million international visitors in the first nine months of 2026, up 60.2 per cent from a year earlier and accounting for more than 99 per cent of An Giang Province's international arrivals.
Direct international air links currently connect the island with key markets including South Korea, Taiwan, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
Phu Quoc International Airport is also being upgraded in preparation for the 2027 APEC summit.
The runway expansion has been completed, while the VIP terminal is 96 per cent complete and Terminal 2 has reached 72 per cent, according to the report.
The upgraded airport is expected to expand Phu Quoc's international connectivity and support further growth in tourism.
