The 2026 Cao Ly Moon Night, organised by the commune People's Committee on Cao Ly Mountain, began on September 26 and runs until September 27.
On Saturday evening, residents and visitors enjoyed folk songs and dances and traditional costume performances by Dao, San Chi and Tay ethnic communities, alongside modern performances.
The event also featured overnight camping, allowing visitors to enjoy the mountain scenery and moonlight.
Food, agricultural products, OCOP goods and traditional handicrafts were also showcased for visitors.
A new activity this year invited visitors to guess the weight of three giant pumpkins, combining entertainment with the promotion of local produce.
Early on September 27, visitors could go cloud hunting, watch the sunrise and hike through the mountain landscape, followed by traditional sports and folk games.
Hoanh Mo is home to Tay, Dao and San Chi communities, which maintain a range of traditional cultural practices.
These include then singing and the tinh lute of the Tay, soong co singing of the San Chi, and traditional embroidery, herbal medicine knowledge and rituals of the Dao.
Local authorities plan to combine the preservation of these traditions with community-based tourism, encouraging residents to provide accommodation and food services and introduce their culture to visitors.
Cao Ly is being developed for camping, cloud hunting and the Cao Ly Moon Night event, while Song Mooc and Khe Tien are being promoted for community-based tourism linked to natural landscapes and traditional knowledge of medicinal herbs.
According to Vu Duy Van, secretary of the Hoanh Mo Commune Party Committee, the event was part of plans to develop camping and cloud-hunting tourism on Cao Ly Mountain while promoting the area's natural scenery and cultural heritage.
