The ceremony marked the 726th anniversary of the death of Tran Hung Dao, also known as Tran Quoc Tuan, and was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau and representatives of central agencies, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and local authorities.
Nguyen Minh Hung, vice chairman of the Haiphong People's Committee, said Con Son-Kiep Bac is associated with important historical, cultural, religious and landscape values.
Tran Hung Dao established the Van Kiep military base in the area in the 13th century, where troops were trained and supplies stored during the Tran Dynasty's resistance wars.
The Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2025.
At its 48th session in 2026, the World Heritage Committee adopted the site's Statement of Outstanding Universal Value.
The complex is closely associated with the development and spread of Truc Lam Buddhism, a Vietnamese Zen tradition founded in the 13th century.
Another highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the World Heritage site's brand identity.
The design features a chrysanthemum within a bodhi leaf, accompanied by stylised chrysanthemum leaves. The bodhi leaf represents wisdom and enlightenment, while the chrysanthemum, associated with Tran Dynasty art, represents resilience and vitality.
The identity centres on three themes: "Wisdom - Harmony - Spread" and was developed through coordination among the localities associated with the heritage complex.
The 2026 Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival runs from September 26 to October 4, featuring traditional rituals, commemorative activities, cultural performances and heritage experiences.
Other activities will promote tourism, traditional crafts and local products, with events centred on the Con Son-Kiep Bac complex and linked with other destinations in Haiphong.
