The visitors accounted for about 5.8 per cent of the city's international arrivals, according to Nguyen Thi Hoai An, deputy director of the Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Russian arrivals alone reached nearly 300,000, surging 151.4 per cent year-on-year and making Russia the seventh-largest international source market for the city.
An said the strong recovery had helped diversify Danang's international tourism markets and supported demand for beach holidays, resorts, wellness services, food and cultural experiences in Danang and Hoi An.
Visitors from Russia and CIS countries also tend to stay relatively long, making them well suited to the city's resort tourism offerings, she added.
Improved air connectivity has helped drive the growth. During the 2026 summer season, flights from CIS countries to Danang reached about 16 per week, alongside charter services from several Russian cities.
Danang City has also stepped up digital promotion, with a Yandex campaign reaching 17.2 million users in Russia and CIS countries and generating 63.4 million impressions. Searches for Danang on the platform roughly tripled year-on-year during the campaign.
The city plans to continue working with airlines, travel companies and other partners to sustain arrivals from Russia and CIS markets while developing tourism products combining beach holidays, wellness, golf, food, culture and heritage.
It also plans further familiarisation and press trips, support for air links and tourism promotion, and is preparing to participate in the MITT Moscow 2027 international travel fair.
Danang's accommodation establishments served about 14.25 million visitors in the first eight months of 2026, up 24.9 per cent year-on-year, while revenue from accommodation and food services rose 25.1 per cent to about VND 46.93 trillion.
The city is targeting more than 19.1 million visitors in 2026, including about 8.7 million international arrivals.
