All previously reported textbook shortages for the 2026-2027 school year have been cleared, with the remaining 776,259 copies distributed by September 24, the Ministry of Education and Training said.
Nationwide demand for the school year stood at about 245.94 million textbooks as of 5 p.m. on September 20.
The shortage had fallen from 2,718,946 copies on September 15 to 776,259 by September 20, equivalent to about 0.31 per cent of total demand, meaning 99.69 per cent had been met.
The remaining 776,259 copies were distributed by the end of September 24, completing efforts to address the reported shortage.
To meet additional demand from students and school libraries, the ministry has instructed the Vietnam Education Publishing House to print and distribute about 2.996 million more textbooks through its distribution network and bookshops across all 34 provinces and cities.
Additional stocks will also be maintained to meet demand arising from natural disasters, storms, floods and other circumstances.
The ministry has asked provincial authorities to ensure schools provide students and parents with timely information on bookshops, online purchasing channels, support contacts, ordering procedures and delivery times.
Valid orders placed through the publisher's online platforms will be fulfilled within 24 hours.
Schools have also been instructed to organise teaching flexibly and make free electronic textbooks available where students have access to suitable devices.
They have been encouraged to expand textbook lending through school libraries and reuse books that remain in good condition, while providing support for students unable to access electronic versions.
Localities have also been asked to review textbook demand and distribution, identify the causes of shortages and clarify the responsibilities of relevant organisations and individuals where shortages occurred.
The ministry said measures should be taken to prevent similar problems in future school years and ensure all students have the textbooks they need.
