The proposal was submitted by the provincial People's Committee to the Tay Ninh People's Council at a special session on September 25.
Under the plan, HCM City would oversee the project to widen Nguyen Van Bua Street from Nga Ba Giong intersection to TL9 Bridge and build Lon Bridge.
The project is aimed at improving transport links between HCM City and Tay Ninh, easing pressure on existing roads and facilitating the movement of goods.
The route will run through Ba Diem, Xuan Thoi Son and Vinh Loc communes in HCM City and My Hanh and Duc Lap communes in Tay Ninh Province.
It will stretch about 3.81 km from Nga Ba Giong intersection with Duong Cong Khi Street in HCM City to the intersection of DT824 and Road No. 5 in Tay Ninh.
The road will be widened to 40 metres, with about 3.7 km in HCM City and 110 metres in Tay Ninh.
The project will also include the construction of Lon Bridge, improvements to the Lon Bridge intersection and TL9 Bridge, as well as underpasses and connecting roads.
Drainage, lighting, greenery and traffic safety facilities will also be built or upgraded.
The project is expected to cost nearly VND 2.978 trillion, funded by the HCM City budget, and is scheduled for implementation between 2026 and 2030.
Tay Ninh officials said the project would help improve regional transport links, reduce logistics costs and support investment in industrial and urban areas.
