The road runs from Hoi An Tay Ward to Chu Lai airport and is the longest named road in Danang.
Developed in several phases, it is now being completed to allow two-way traffic along its entire length.
The section from Dien Hong slope towards the city centre has already been completed as a two-way road. Planned at 38 metres wide, it has three lanes in each direction, pavements of 7.5 metres on either side and a central reservation nearly 2.5 metres wide, landscaped with bougainvillea and other flowers.
The route was developed to support tourism, urban and industrial growth, with resorts and industrial zones emerging along the corridor in southern Danang.
One of its major structures is Cua Dai Bridge across the Thu Bon River. Construction began in 2010 and was completed in 2016 at a cost of VND 3.45 trillion (about USD 132 million), funded by central and local budgets.
Intersections between Vo Chi Cong Road and east-west roads are equipped with traffic lights.
Since opening, the route has provided an alternative for motorists and helped ease traffic on National Highway 1A. Tractor-trailers are limited to 50 km/h to reduce accident risks.
A representative of the Danang Management Board for Transport and Agricultural Infrastructure Investment and Construction Projects said total investment in Vo Chi Cong Road exceeded VND 8 trillion (about USD 305 million).
