According to the 2026 cruise schedule released by Ha Long International Cruise Port, a number of major international cruise brands are set to bring visitors from multiple overseas markets to Quang Ninh Province.
Cruise arrivals are expected to be concentrated in specific periods of the year, with December forecast to be the busiest month. Around 14 ship calls have already been registered for that month alone.
Bui Quang Tuan, director of Ha Long International Cruise Port, said the Adora Magic City and Adora Flora City, operated by one of China's largest cruise companies, would return to Vietnam this year.
“In November, Adora Magic City is expected to bring around 5,000 visitors to Ha Long. In addition to transporting large numbers of Chinese tourists to Vietnam, cruise operators also hope to attract Vietnamese travellers on return voyages to China,” Tuan said.
Quang Ninh authorities have identified cruise tourism as one of the province's key segments for expanding international visitor arrivals.
To serve this market, local travel companies are developing tour programmes tailored to cruise schedules, focusing on destinations such as Ha Long Bay, the Quang Ninh Museum and Library, cultural attractions, dining venues and shopping areas.
The province is also strengthening connections between tourism destinations including Tuan Chau, Van Don and various resort complexes to provide cruise passengers with a broader range of experiences.
With cruise arrivals concentrated in the early and final months of the year, officials say effective planning of personnel, transport and tourism services during peak periods will be essential to maximising the benefits of international cruise tourism.
The sector is expected to contribute to Quang Ninh's broader tourism targets for 2026, which include welcoming 23 million visitors and generating more than VND 70 trillion (USD 2.68 billion) in tourism revenue.
