The Lam Dong People's Committee announced the emergency declaration on September 20 for Dak Snao Hamlet in Quang Son Commune.
According to local authorities, the affected area has experienced ground subsidence with an average depth of around 20cm.
A crack measuring approximately 300 metres in length has formed along the hillside and through parts of the residential area. The fissure ranges from 6cm to 17cm in width and is continuing to expand across an area of more than four hectares.

Officials said the ground in the area had become severely unstable. Further heavy rainfall could allow water to penetrate deeper into the soil, increasing the risk of large-scale landslides and ground collapse.
The hazard poses a direct threat to the lives and property of 79 households, comprising 454 residents.
In response, provincial authorities have ordered the immediate implementation of emergency measures aimed at minimising potential damage.
Specialised teams have been instructed to closely monitor weather conditions and changes at the site, reinforce vulnerable locations and maintain constant surveillance of the affected area.
Warning signs and safety barriers have been installed, while personnel have been assigned to guard the site around the clock to prevent residents from entering dangerous zones.

Local authorities have also established temporary accommodation for evacuated residents and are providing essential supplies to ensure no household faces shortages following relocation.
At the same time, the Lam Dong People's Committee has directed Quang Son Commune authorities to work with Project Management Unit 3 to conduct detailed geological surveys and assessments.
The investigation will seek to determine the cause of the ground instability and develop long-term solutions to address the risk of further subsidence and landslides.
