Three killed after lorry overturns into house in Cao Bang

Three people were killed after a tractor-trailer overturned on a national highway in Cao Bang Province, causing its cargo to crash into a house beside the road.

According to local authorities, the accident occurred at about 4.30 pm on September 18 on National Highway 4A.

Nguyen Khanh Tung, 46, from Quoc Oai Commune, Hanoi, was driving a tractor unit pulling a trailer, accompanied by Phan Tuan Ngoc, 45, from Van Quan Ward, Hanoi.

When the vehicle reached a bend in Na Danh Hamlet, Thach An Commune, it reportedly became unstable and overturned onto its side near the roadside.

The cargo spilled from the trailer and crashed into a single-storey house owned by Nong Thanh Tam, 58, in Thach An Commune.

Tam, driver Tung and passenger Ngoc died at the scene.

The impact caused significant damage to the house, with parts of the structure collapsing and building materials scattered across the area. The tractor unit and trailer came to rest on their side along the edge of the highway.

Authorities in Thach An Commune coordinated with police and emergency services to deploy rescue equipment, secure the scene and maintain public safety and traffic flow in the area.

By about 8.50 pm, the bodies of the three victims had been recovered from the wreckage.

Investigators are continuing to examine the cause of the accident.
