According to the Dong Nai Transport Infrastructure Project Management Board, the Cat Lai Bridge project will stretch more than 11.6km, including a bridge section of approximately 3km across the Dong Nai River.
The project will comprise six lanes for motor vehicles and two lanes for non-motorised traffic. It will connect Cat Lai Ward in Ho Chi Minh City with the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway in Dong Nai City.
Construction is scheduled to run from 2026 to 2029.
Dong Nai People's Committee described the Cat Lai Bridge as a strategic transport project that will strengthen connectivity across the Southeast region and support broader inter-regional economic development.
The project carries a total investment of more than VND 24 trillion (USD 919 million).
The scheme is expected to require nearly 127 hectares of land. Of this, more than 121 hectares will be located in Dong Nai City, while approximately 5.2 hectares will be in Ho Chi Minh City.
Once completed, the bridge is expected to provide a direct road connection between the two localities, reducing reliance on the existing Cat Lai ferry service and improving transport links in one of Vietnam's fastest-growing economic corridors.
