More than 15,500 people have been affected by flooding across Hanoi, with nearly 2,650 homes inundated following days of heavy rainfall, according to local authorities.

The Hanoi Sub-Department of Irrigation and Disaster Prevention and Control said on the morning of September 18 that flooding remained severe in several communes and wards despite lighter rainfall overnight.
Authorities attributed the situation to accumulated runoff from prolonged heavy rain and persistently high water levels in several rivers.
According to preliminary reports from local administrations, as of 5.30 am on September 18, a total of 3,840 households, comprising more than 15,570 residents, had been affected by flooding across the capital.
Among them, 86 households with 299 residents were evacuated to safer locations.
Between 4 pm on September 17 and the morning of September 18 alone, the number of affected residents increased by nearly 5,000, mainly in Hong Son, Son Dong and Huong Son communes.
Floodwaters also inundated 2,644 homes, according to official figures.
Several rivers in Hanoi remained at elevated levels on September 18. Water levels on the Tich River reached 8.62m at Vinh Phuc station and 9.02m at Kim Quan station at 5 am.
The Bui River measured 7.60m at Yen Duyet station, while the Day River reached 6.90m at Ba Tha station. Water levels on the Nhue River stood at 4.73m at Dong Quan station.
Authorities continue to monitor river levels and flooding conditions as recovery and relief efforts are carried out in affected areas.
