Vietnamese company unveils heavy-lift UAV capable of carrying 100kg

Vietnamese drone manufacturer CT UAV has successfully designed and tested a new heavy-lift unmanned aerial vehicle capable of transporting payloads of up to 100kg.

CT UAV has announced the successful design and flight testing of its new heavy-lift unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the CT Pegas 230.

The aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 230kg and can carry payloads of up to 100kg, marking a significant milestone for Vietnam's growing UAV industry.

According to the company, the CT Pegas 230 is designed for a wide range of logistics and transport applications.

In the construction and mining sectors, the UAV can be used to deliver equipment and materials to remote worksites, mountainous regions and other locations that are difficult to access by conventional transport.

For maritime and island operations, the drone can transport cargo between the mainland, offshore islands, vessels and offshore facilities more quickly and efficiently.

The aircraft can also support the installation and maintenance of power transmission systems, wind farms and solar energy projects.

CT UAV said the platform could play an important role during natural disasters and emergency situations. During storms and flooding, the drone could be deployed to deliver food, drinking water, medicine and other essential supplies to isolated communities, helping reduce response times and support rescue operations.

The company said the CT Pegas 230 received orders for 135 units from domestic customers on the first day following its introduction. Discussions are also under way with potential partners in several overseas markets.

Heavy-lift UAVs such as the CT Pegas 230 require advanced engineering capabilities, including airframe design, propulsion systems, flight-control technology, wind resistance, payload stability and operational safety systems.

CT UAV also revealed that it is developing an ultra-heavy-lift UAV capable of carrying up to 500kg. The company said the new model is expected to be introduced in the near future.
