Heavy rain linked to a tropical depression swept large amounts of driftwood, branches, vegetation and other waste downstream and into the sea before it washed ashore, affecting the beach's environment and appearance.
Around 50 members of the provincial mobile police force have joined sanitation workers to collect, sort and remove the debris.
The clean-up is expected to take five to seven days, with large logs and branches making collection and transport difficult. Waves have also continued to wash more debris ashore.
The affected stretch of coastline is about four kilometres long, from the former post office area to Beach No. 2, according to the Dong Hoi Ward General Services Centre.
Workers are first removing logs, branches and other large debris before clearing smaller waste. The collected material is sorted and moved to the main road for transport to designated disposal sites.
Dozens of tonnes of debris remain on the beach, with crews continuing work to restore the area for residents and tourists.
