The APEC Multipurpose Performance Hall in Phu Quoc, with more than 4,000 seats, is taking shape as part of infrastructure being built for the 2027 APEC Economic Leaders' Week.
The investor said on September 17 that columns were being installed around the circular building, with about 30 of 50 now in place. The columns will support the hall's large and architecturally complex roof.
About 98 per cent of the reinforced concrete structure has been completed, largely defining the main building. Work is also progressing on the roof truss and support system, which weighs about 3,000 tonnes.
The exterior is expected to be fully enclosed in the fourth quarter of this year, with interior work scheduled for completion by the end of March 2027.
Construction began in the fourth quarter of 2025. The hall will have a roof area of 17,250 square metres and total floor space of 54,680 square metres, with six above-ground floors and one basement level.
Once completed, the facility is expected to host the opening and closing ceremonies of APEC 2027, along with cultural and artistic performances during the event.
The performance hall stands next to the Convention and Exhibition Centre and forms part of the infrastructure complex being developed in Phu Quoc for APEC 2027.
The circular hall is designed to represent "Heaven", while the neighbouring square-shaped Convention and Exhibition Centre symbolises "Earth", drawing on the traditional Eastern concept of "round Heaven and square Earth".
