Heavy rain has caused water levels at the Khe Dua reservoir in Nghe An Province to rise above the dam crest, while flooding has disrupted traffic on several major roads, prompting authorities to impose temporary closures.

On September 16, Nguyen Huu Hao, chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Hieu Commune, said persistent rainfall had led to water overtopping the Khe Dua Reservoir.
According to local authorities, rising water levels also inundated two sections of National Highway 48 running through the commune. Traffic has been suspended at the affected locations, with officials deployed to prevent people and vehicles from entering hazardous areas.

The same day, Nghe An's Road Maintenance Management Board under the provincial Department of Construction reported that continued heavy rain had triggered flooding and landslides on multiple transport routes across the province.
A preliminary report from the agency showed that, as of 7.30 am on September 16, nine locations on national and provincial roads were submerged, causing traffic disruptions and temporary road closures.

Authorities have erected barriers and restricted access at severely flooded sections to reduce safety risks.
The full extent of damage to the province's transport infrastructure has yet to be assessed, with surveys continuing as floodwaters remain high.
