The project is being carried out by Project Management Unit 85 under the Ministry of Construction, project commander Dinh Van Phuc said on September 15.
The 140-metre-long, nine-metre-wide viaduct is being built at Km227+150 on National Highway 20 in Xuan Huong-Dalat Ward. It will have four spans, two abutments and three piers.
The new structure is about 150 metres from Xuan Huong Bridge, which opened to traffic in April, and is expected to improve capacity on National Highway 20.
As part of the project, a section of Mimosa Pass at Km229+700 will also be reinforced to prevent landslides.
Heavy rain in late November and early December 2025 caused severe subsidence and landslides along the pass. At Km226, a roughly 100-metre section of road collapsed into a ravine about 30 metres deep, completely cutting off traffic.
Authorities initially cleared the hillside to create a temporary route before building Xuan Huong Bridge to bypass the damaged section. The bridge was completed and opened to traffic in late April.
