According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, widespread heavy rain will continue across northern and north-central Vietnam on September 16.

Hanoi, southern Phu Tho Province, Hung Yen Province, Ninh Binh Province, Thanh Hoa Province and Nghe An Province could experience very heavy rainfall exceeding 200mm in some locations.
Elsewhere, southern Lao Cai Province, Son La Province, Tuyen Quang Province and Thai Nguyen Province, along with northern Phu Tho Province, Haiphong and Bac Ninh Province, are forecast to receive moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 30mm to 60mm, with isolated areas recording more than 120mm.
Meteorologists warned that exceptionally intense downpours could occur during the current weather event, with some locations potentially receiving more than 100mm of rain within just three hours.
Such concentrated rainfall may overwhelm drainage systems, increasing the risk of severe flooding in low-lying areas, urban districts and industrial zones.
From the night of September 16 through September 17, heavy rain is forecast to persist in southern Son La Province, Phu Tho Province, Hanoi, Hung Yen Province, Ninh Binh Province, Thanh Hoa Province and Nghe An Province. Rainfall totals are expected to range from 30mm to 60mm, with isolated areas exceeding 100mm.
Meanwhile, Ha Tinh Province and northern Quang Tri Province are forecast to receive light to moderate rain on September 16, with rainfall generally between 20mm and 40mm and some locations recording more than 70mm.
Authorities warned residents to remain alert for thunderstorms, lightning, hail and strong winds. Forecasts indicate that rainfall across northern Vietnam, Thanh Hoa Province and Nghe An Province should gradually ease from the night of September 17.
