On September 14, the Management Board of Lam Dong Industrial Parks reported to the provincial People's Committee on revisions and finalisation of the proposal to establish the special economic zone along the province's coastline.

Under the plan, the special coastal economic zone would cover approximately 86,048 hectares and accommodate an estimated population of 219,755 residents.
The proposed zone would span six communes and wards: Son My Commune, Ham Tan Commune, Tan Minh Commune, Tan Hai Commune, La Gi Ward and Phuoc Hoi Ward in Lam Dong Province.
Son My Commune would account for the largest area, covering 25,452 hectares with a population of 26,599. Ham Tan Commune would cover 19,846 hectares with 35,209 residents, while Tan Minh Commune would span 22,376 hectares and have a population of 22,292.
Phuoc Hoi Ward would cover 3,809 hectares and have a population of 49,480. La Gi Ward would extend across 6,847 hectares with 60,549 residents, while Tan Hai Commune would cover 7,718 hectares and have a population of 25,626.
Provincial authorities are continuing to review and refine the proposal before submitting it for further consideration as part of plans to promote economic development in the coastal region.
