The event was held on September 13 in Tan Hung Ward and was jointly organised by Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Chia Se charity group.

Children took part in games, cultural performances and magic shows as part of the celebrations.
A total of 500 children received gifts and cash assistance worth VND 1.1 million (USD 42) each. Another 200 children facing particularly difficult circumstances, as well as children from Hoa Binh Village, received gifts and scholarships valued at VND 1.6 million (USD 61) per child.
The programme has been organised annually for many years by Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper in partnership with the Chia Se charitable group founded by Mai Thi Hanh, wife of former State President Truong Tan Sang.

The initiative supports disadvantaged children, including those forced to work at an early age and young patients battling serious illnesses, helping to provide a warmer Mid-Autumn Festival and encouragement for their future.

In 2026, organisers plan to assist more than 3,400 children across selected wards and communes in An Giang, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap and Ho Chi Minh City, with a total budget of VND 3.8 billion (USD 146,000).
Beneficiaries include students from low-income families, street lottery ticket sellers, children who collect recyclable waste, orphans, victims of Agent Orange and children receiving cancer treatment at Children's Hospital 1, Children's Hospital 2 and Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital.
