The Dak Lak Hydrometeorological Station on September 12 issued a warning of flash floods, landslides and land subsidence triggered by heavy rain and runoff across the province.
As of 5 pm, moderate to heavy rain had been recorded in several areas, with rainfall reaching 60.8mm in Hoa Xuan Commune and 48.8mm in Hoa Thinh Commune.
Soil moisture in some areas has exceeded 85 per cent or reached saturation levels, according to the weather agency.
Further rain is forecast over the next six hours, with rainfall of 10-20mm expected in some areas and more than 40mm in others.
The station warned of possible flash floods along small rivers and streams, as well as landslides on steep slopes with loose or unstable soil and along riverbanks in 22 communes and wards.
Residents in high-risk areas have been advised to closely follow weather warnings and take precautions.
The natural disaster risk level for flash floods, landslides and land subsidence caused by heavy rain or runoff has been set at Level 1.
Authorities warned that such incidents could threaten lives, damage the environment, cause localised traffic disruption and hamper travel.
