The signing took place during the official visit to France and participation in the Space Summit from September 10 to 12 by Vietnam's General Secretary and State President To Lam, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level Vietnamese delegation.

Under the agreement, Vietravel Airlines will acquire 50 Airbus aircraft, including 20 A220 jets and 30 aircraft from the A321 family, expected to include A321neo and A321XLR variants.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2029 and will support the airline's medium- and long-term development strategy.

The planned fleet expansion will enable Vietravel Airlines to gradually extend its international network beyond East and Southeast Asia into South Asia, Central Asia and selected Middle Eastern markets.

The acquisition represents the latest milestone in the carrier's transformation programme since joining the T&T Group ecosystem in late 2024.

Vietravel Airlines is currently expanding its domestic network, linking key economic and tourism centres across Vietnam, while also advancing its international ambitions through scheduled services to Bangkok and Shenzhen.

Alongside plans to add more aircraft during the second half of 2026, the airline expects to increase operations to around 80-90 flights per day while expanding connectivity to additional domestic and international destinations.
