Heavy rain floods roads and paralyses traffic in Dong Nai

More than two hours of torrential rain flooded major roads in Dong Nai on September 10, causing severe traffic disruption and inundating residential areas across the city.

A prolonged downpour across central Dong Nai City on September 10 left major roads underwater, disrupted transport and flooded numerous residential neighbourhoods.

Heavy rain lasting for more than two hours caused widespread flooding, cutting off traffic routes and making travel difficult for residents.

On Dong Khoi Street in Trang Dai Ward, stormwater quickly overwhelmed drainage systems, creating fast-flowing currents across the roadway. Many motorcyclists were forced to stop and turn back as floodwaters became too deep and dangerous to cross.

A section of National Highway 51 passing through Long Hung Ward was also heavily flooded, leaving hundreds of motorcycles stranded and triggering lengthy traffic jams during the storm.

In Long Binh Ward, Tran Bien Ward and Long Hung Ward, as well as along Bui Van Hoa Street and roads surrounding the Cong 11 intersection and National Highway 51, dozens of vehicles broke down after being submerged in floodwater.

Traffic conditions deteriorated rapidly as both cars and motorcycles stalled in the flooded streets.

Residents living along Dong Khoi Street were seen clearing rubbish from drainage inlets in an effort to speed up water discharge and reduce flooding. However, congestion continued to build along the route.

In Huong Phuoc neighbourhood of Phuoc Tan Ward, rising water levels on the Buong River caused flooding on multiple streets. Local reports indicated that floodwater entered dozens of homes.

To ensure public safety, authorities in Phuoc Tan Ward erected barriers and established checkpoints at several severely flooded locations where strong currents posed a risk to motorists and pedestrians.
