According to the Bac Ninh Land Development Centre, more than 1,800 hectares of the project's total area of over 1,900 hectares have been cleared.
The cleared area includes 1,256 hectares of agricultural land, 53.4 hectares of residential land and more than 531 hectares of other land.
Gia Binh Commune has handed over all required land to the investor, including about 800 hectares of agricultural land.
Nhan Thang, Luong Tai and Lam Thao communes have also handed over all agricultural land required for the project, with only some residential land remaining to be cleared.
Authorities will focus on clearing the remaining land, verifying land origins, paying compensation and completing related procedures.
Bac Ninh aims to hand over the entire site by the end of 2026 for construction of Gia Binh International Airport.
The airport, covering more than 1,900 hectares, has an estimated investment of VND 196 trillion. It is planned to meet the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) 4F airport standards.
By 2030, the airport is expected to handle around 30 million passengers and 1.6 million tonnes of cargo annually, rising to 50 million passengers and 2.5 million tonnes by 2050.
The airport will have two pairs of parallel runways. By 2030, aprons serving the VIP, passenger and cargo terminals and maintenance area are planned to provide about 83 aircraft parking stands, increasing to around 123 by 2050.
Gia Binh International Airport is also planned to connect with Hanoi by expressway, urban railway and national railway.
The airport's first phase is targeted for completion in time to serve the APEC 2027 summit.
