Haiphong seizes kite flying above 200m near airport route

Police in An Hung Commune, Haiphong City, seized a traditional flute kite measuring about 2m across after finding it flying more than 200m above the ground near Khue Bridge.

At about 5.15 pm on September 4, An Hung Commune Police received a report of a high-altitude object resembling a kite near Khue Bridge that could pose a risk to aviation security and safety.

Officers were dispatched to investigate and found a black flute kite with yellow and red stripes flying more than 200m above a field in Phuong Ha Village.

The kite had been tied to the base of a banana tree, but officers were unable to identify the person who had flown it. The kite was subsequently seized.

Following the incident, An Hung Commune Police warned residents to comply with regulations when taking part in traditional recreational activities, particularly kite flying in the area.

Previously, on June 7, Hai An Ward Police investigated and issued administrative fines totalling VND 4.6 million (USD 176) to two local men for flying kites in a restricted area.
