Another incident involving a wild monkey attacking a person was reported on September 4 near the start of Vi Ba Street in Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
Residents said the incident occurred at about 9 am, when an adult pig-tailed macaque suddenly entered a residential area and attacked a person, leaving the victim injured and bleeding heavily.
Residents quickly took the victim for medical treatment and reported the incident to authorities. Police and forest rangers arrived at the scene and organised a search to capture the monkey, but the operation was unsuccessful.
A local resident said similar monkey attacks had occurred in late January 2026 but stopped after authorities carried out operations to capture several wild monkeys displaying aggressive behaviour.
"The monkey seen this morning has several features similar to the one that attacked people before, including a pig-like tail and a depression on its head," the resident said. "It bit me once, leaving a deep wound near a blood vessel, so the bleeding was heavy and difficult to stop."
The Vung Tau Ward People's Committee said that after a series of monkey attacks in late January 2026, local authorities had organised efforts to capture several aggressive wild monkeys and handed them over for handling in accordance with regulations.
The local administration said it had also received information about the latest incident and was investigating and taking appropriate measures.
