The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs announced the recruitment plan on September 3.
In September 2026, the city will select 60 male workers to work in Japan under an agreement between Vietnam's Ministry of Home Affairs and Japan's International Manpower Development Organisation, known as IM Japan.
The recruitment covers two fields: manufacturing and construction. The internship programme lasts three years.
During their time in Japan, interns will earn between ¥ 160,000 and ¥ 210,000 a month. The salaries are before deductions for taxes, insurance and accommodation and exclude overtime pay and other benefits.
Interns will receive support for return airfare, covering their departure for Japan and their return home after completing their contracts. Those who complete the programme and return to Vietnam on schedule will receive an incentive payment of ¥ 600,000.
They will also be entitled to a pension insurance benefit worth about VND70 million (USD 2,682) after three years of training and will receive assistance in finding jobs after returning home.
As the programme is part of bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, participants will not have to pay service fees. They will only cover personal expenses, including passport and criminal-record certificate fees, visa fees, medical examinations, tuition, meals and accommodation during training.
No other fees will be charged. Participants will also receive reimbursement for four months of tuition and dormitory fees after leaving for Japan.
Applicants must be men aged 18 to 30, have completed upper secondary school or an equivalent qualification, be at least 1.58 metres tall and not have amblyopia, among other requirements.
