Police in Xuan Huong-Dalat Ward, Lam Dong Province, are investigating a case of animal abuse that allegedly took place at Lam Vien Square.
The investigation was launched after a video circulated online showing a man repeatedly hitting an Alaska dog on the head with a hard object at the square.

According to information shared on social media, the man had brought the dog to the tourist attraction to pose for photographs with visitors in exchange for payment. The animal was reportedly beaten after it failed to follow his commands.
After receiving reports of the incident, local police began an investigation. On the morning of September 3, officers summoned a 38-year-old man from Ho Chi Minh City, who was identified as being involved in the case, for questioning.
During the interview, the man admitted striking his Alaska dog because it did not obey his instructions.
He told investigators that he now recognised his actions as animal abuse and acknowledged that the incident had negatively affected the image of Dalat as a tourist destination.

Police are currently completing the necessary procedures to handle the case in accordance with Vietnamese law.
Authorities noted that a similar incident occurred in August 2024, when two young men were sanctioned for beating an Alaska dog used for paid tourist photographs after it failed to respond to commands.
Following that case, local authorities banned individuals from bringing pets to Lam Vien Square for commercial photo services.
