According to authorities at Noi Bai International Airport, they had handled a case involving the unauthorised operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle in a no-fly zone.
The drone was detected at around 8.30 am on August 30 over Quang Minh Industrial Park in Hanoi's Quang Minh Commune. It was flying at an altitude of 92 metres, about 4.5 km from the airport.
Police identified the operator as a Quang Minh Commune resident who had used a DJI Mini 4 Pro to monitor construction at a factory in the industrial park.
The device was temporarily seized and the case handed over to Quang Minh Commune Police for further action.
Authorities had previously deployed a 360-degree surveillance system to detect UAVs and drones around the airport. The system can detect devices within a 10-km radius and operates around the clock.
Police warned that even small drones flown without authorisation in restricted or no-fly zones could pose a risk to aviation safety.
