US tourist given emergency aid at Vietnam-Laos border crossing

An 81-year-old American tourist who showed signs of a possible stroke while entering Vietnam from Laos was given emergency aid by border guards in the central province of Quang Tri.

The Lao Bao International Border Gate Border Guard Station said on August 28 that its personnel had assisted the tourist, identified as Grosman Eugenne, after he suddenly became unwell at the border crossing.

Eugenne experienced low blood sugar and dizziness before collapsing while entering Vietnam through the Lao Bao International Border Gate.

Border guards and other officials quickly provided first aid and assessed his condition. His health stabilised after receiving assistance.

According to the border guard unit, Eugenne has no wife or children and expressed a wish to donate his organs to Vietnamese medicine after his death.
