Vietnam's aviation authorities are expecting a significant increase in air travel during the National Day holiday, with passengers urged to complete check-in procedures early and prepare all required documents before heading to the airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said on August 28 that Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi is expected to handle more than 125,000 passengers during this year's holiday period, an increase of 8 per cent from normal levels and 33 per cent from the same period last year.
The airport is also expected to handle about 743 aircraft movements a day during the holiday, up 10 per cent from normal operations and 18 per cent from the same period in 2025.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is expected to operate an average of 780 flights a day during the holiday period from August 28 to September 2. That represents an increase of about 5 per cent compared with the current flight schedule and roughly 12 per cent compared with last year's National Day peak.
The busiest days for flight operations are expected to be August 28 and September 2, with about 800 flights scheduled each day.
Tan Son Nhat is expected to handle an average of about 130,000 passengers a day during the holiday, up approximately 4 per cent from current levels and 16 per cent from the peak recorded during last year's National Day holiday.
Passenger numbers are expected to reach their highest levels on August 29 and September 2, when the airport could handle around 135,000 passengers a day.
Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports have advised passengers to check in online through airline websites or mobile applications, or use VNeID digital identification accounts, check-in kiosks and biometric kiosks at the terminals to reduce waiting times at conventional check-in counters.
Travellers have also been urged to check their travel documents carefully, familiarise themselves with baggage regulations and ensure that they are not carrying items prohibited or restricted on flights.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights to allow sufficient time for check-in, security screening and boarding procedures.
