Officials from the Bich Dam Border Guard Station on Hon Tre Island in Khanh Hoa Province confirmed on August 25 that a female tourist had climbed onto a steep cliff in the protected area surrounding Hon Lon Lighthouse.

According to border guard authorities, the site is equipped with guardrails and warning signs designed to prevent visitors from entering dangerous areas for photographs.
Despite these measures, some visitors continue to cross safety barriers and venture into hazardous locations to take pictures, officials said.
The border guard station said it would continue public awareness campaigns and remind residents and tourists not to engage in risky behaviour while visiting the island in order to prevent accidents.
The incident gained attention after a video lasting more than 40 seconds circulated widely on social media.
The footage showed the woman climbing over a protective railing and making her way onto a rocky cliff overlooking the sea near Hon Lon Lighthouse to pose for photographs.
A local resident witnessing the incident warned her about the danger and urged her to return immediately to a safe area.
Following the warning, the woman was seen carefully crawling back across the exposed rock face before re-entering the protected zone behind the barrier.
Hon Lon Lighthouse, built in 1890, stands more than 100 metres above sea level and is one of Khanh Hoa's best-known scenic attractions.
The lighthouse complex includes a rest area overlooking the sea, where visitors can observe fishing vessels operating in Nha Trang Bay.
